Summer Vacation Essentials
Posted on 08 June 2017
So you’re getting ready to start packing for your summer vacation, and you panic. What do you pack? Do you check a bag and pay way too much money OR do you try to cram everything into a personal sized bag to avoid paying any fees? Unless you’re flying Southwest, this is a real dilemma…at least it is for me! I actually just finished packing for a long weekend trip to Atlanta, and finally settled on checking a bag, but my wardrobe is pretty pared down to the essentials, and that makes me happy. :)
I’m hitting up the Atlanta market tomorrow for a quick buying trip (I’m taking the big bag in case there are any goodies I need to bring back!), and then spending some much needed time with friends & family back in the south. I’m most excited to 1) of course, buy more amazing summer pieces for the store (keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming blog post about what it’s like to go to market!!), 2) eat my weight in delicious southern food (hello, fried green tomatoes and sweet tea!), 3) let that humidity work its magic on my skin & hair (Colorado is just too dry for this southern girl!), and 4) hang out with some of my favorite people for a few days.
Here are a few of this summer’s essential vacation pieces that will make packing a breeze:
The Pollyanna Top is light and breezy, and will definitely make that tan pop! Wear with your favorite denim jeans or shorts for an easy daytime look. For chilly nights throw on a colorful cardigan or light jacket.
Our Santorini Dress screams vacation staple. The loose shift body with adjustable/removable belt is comfortable for those long days of sightseeing...hopefully in Santorini?!
Let's be real, picking which shoes to take on vacation is almost the hardest part. I always try to take one pair of wedges that can be dressed up or down, a neutral pair of sandals, and a cute, but functional pair of shoes or sneakers, especially if I'm going to be sightseeing. The Dream Girl Wedge is the perfect wedge for any trip this summer; it's extremely comfortably and easy to walk in (I wear them almost every day in the store, they're that comfortable).
For a simple, comfortable, and casual dress, I recommend the Lucite Racerback Dress. It might be the softest thing you've ever felt, plus it's loose and flowy, while still being flattering. It packs well and can easily be dressed up or down.
Next, you need a good pair of denim. The current store obsession are the Fitted Trouser Jeans, which have the perfect amount of flare at the bottom. These jeans have just the right amount of stretch for ultimate comfort, but they don't get stretched out like some jeans can. Another piece to pack for any trip this summer is a patterned top. We love how well the Gypsy Rose Tank works with the flare jeans and the Dream Girl Wedges!
No summer trip is complete without a maxi dress. The color, material, and cut of our Forget Me Not Maxi Dress is perfect for just about anybody. It'll keep you cool on hot summer days, and dress your look up for evenings out.
Lastly, don't forget your accessories! I'm not talking just jewelry...Herschel Supply Co has the perfect wallets, backpacks, and baseball caps to top off your summer vacation wardrobe. Here are two of my favorites that I think will make any vacation better.
I hope this helps you pack for your next summer vacation so you can spend less time worrying about outfits and more time having fun! If you haven't planned a trip, I hope this inspires you to do so. Even if it's a staycation or traveling somewhere within your state, get out and enjoy the beautiful summer weather...and do it in style!
